Spiritual Emphasis Day

"Following last year's Spiritual Emphasis Week, we recognized that this annual event had the potential to be so much more. All summer, our student-led Spiritual Life Team (SaLT) asked this question: "What if we recreated this completely from scratch?" Those plans matured into our first Spiritual Emphasis Day, intentionally designed for students to rotate through activities for shared times of personal testimony and devotions and reflective breakout sessions that incorporated art, music, and prayer walks. The closing time of worship together as a school was one of the most Spirit-filled moments I've experienced at the Upper School campus.

"In my three years at RC, no Spiritual Life effort has produced as much positive feedback from students and staff alike as this first SED. Still, my proudest moment was at the very end when SaLT members came up to the stage together and high-fived like crazy. They led breakout sessions. They handled logistics. They spoke in front of the entire student body. This effort will bear fruit in them and continue to shape them as spiritual student leaders for the benefit of RC well into the future. It was fitting that our SED theme yesterday was 'No Fear', centered around the story of Abraham leaving the familiar and stepping into something new. Only 48 days until the next SED!"
