Annual Service Day
Every year our student body takes a day off to serve the Rockford community. This year our Service Day occurred on the last day of our Spiritual Emphasis Week in February. Students served in groups of 15-20 with their advisors.
Freshman and Sophomore Advisor Groups served at the Northern Illinois Food Bank and local elementary schools. A group also helped make beauty products for a freshman student-run business called La Belle. These girls visit Rock House Kids, a Christian program for homeless youth, and they use their proceeds to give gifts to girls there.
Junior and Senior Advisor Groups served at a variety of local ministries. Students completed projects at Hope Fellowship Church, Temple Baptist Church, Tabor Lutheran, and First Lutheran. Other students served at local homeless ministries, the Carpenter’s Place and the Rockford Rescue Mission. Still others served at By Design Visuals, a Christian missions teaching resource company, Anderson Organics, a Christian community supported agriculture (CSA) vegetable farm, St. Elizabeth’s Food Pantry, and Goldie Floberg’s Learning, Enrichment and Empowerment Program for adults with developmental disabilities.
