Goals and Objectives of the Fine Arts Department at RCS

Fine Arts Vision Statement
Our vision is to be the premiere Christian Fine Arts program in North Central Illinois.

Fine Arts Mission Statement
We will support the mission statement of Rockford Christian School by training the next generation of artists to live Christ-centered lives while excelling in their chosen discipline.

Fine Arts Strategy
Our strategy is a simple three-step process:

1. Expose our students to various styles and genres within each discipline.
2. Equip the students with information and tools necessary to expand their abilities.
3. Empower our students to showcase their developing skills and talents through a variety of performance opportunities.

Higher Scores -

Students with 4 years or more of arts and music study scored 29 points higher on reading, 22 points higher on math and 29 points higher on writing sections of the SAT College Board test.   (College Board SAT, 2008 College-Bound Seniors: Total Group Profile Report)

Better Skills -

Arts-based learning is known to promote collaboration, creative problem solving, and the ability to apply learning across different disciplines.

Schools that have music programs have higher graduation rates than those without programs (90.2% as compared to 72.9%).
