The goal of the Music Department is to develop each young musician to their full potential so that they may glorify God with their music and minister to others.
The aim and final reason of all music should be nothing else but the glory of God and the refreshment of the spirit. Johann Sebastian Bach 1685-1750 It is to praise the Lord and make music to Your name, O Most High, to proclaim Your love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night… Psalm 92:1,2 RCS choral music programs for high school and middle school promote excellence and provide an opportunity for students to develop vocal talents, both inside the classroom in a non-threatening, Christ centered environment and in extra curricular ways. Moreover, there are opportunities for young people to share their talents outside the walls of the school. Some of the offerings for high school are: Varsity choir, Bel Canto choir for girls, and Concert Choir. The goals of choir in Grade 6 is to transition from elementary music into choral singing; to learn to sing parts; to learn a variety of musical genres; to put together a presentation of the Gospel for the Matthew 25 party. As well, we perform in the spring and Christmas concerts; sing at the mall, and take a look at the lives of classical and contemporary performers. |
