Each year a team of students joins up with Mission Emanuel to work in poverty-stricken areas in the Dominican Republic. Its hard work and a blessing all at the same time where students learn the value of giving back and service to God by serving their fellow man.
The trip typically takes place in January during our Jan Term break.
Information on the 2020 trip
Preparations for our Jan-term trip to the Dominican Republic are underway. Our trip is slated for Friday, January 3 - 10, 2020. We will once again be working with Mission Emanuel to come alongside them with home construction as well as spending precious time with the children in the communities of Cielo and Quita Sueño, located outside of Santo Domingo, the capital city. If you would like to learn more about the Mission, its various ministries, and our participation there, you are welcome to browse their website at www.missionemanuel.org.
Our ministry opportunity is open to 30 passengers, and a few travelers have already signed up! The cost of $2350 will remain the same as last year’s, and to help with offsetting the cost, we will look into creating opportunities for raising some of those funds. As you consider this opportunity of international service, here are some important dates to keep in mind.
Friday, August 23rd: Blue and Gold Night: Please stop by the DR Mission table to see pictures of past trips, to receive initial information, and to meet the chaperones.
Thursday, September 5th: 1st Formal Meeting: Parents and students will receive an information packet of trip details and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Monday, September 23rd: Deposit due: A $350 non-refundable deposit is due to Mission Emanuel to secure a place on the trip.
We are enthusiastic about this wonderful opportunity to share the love of Christ to the Dominican children and their families as we come alongside our Dominican brothers and sisters who are carrying out the Lord’s mission in that region. Thank you for your prayerful consideration about joining us in the DR, January 3 - 10, 2020. In the meantime, we look forward to meeting you at Blue and Gold Night. If you have any questions or concerns prior to that, please feel free to email Jennifer Tartaglia at email@example.com.
Grateful for the opportunity to serve,
Mrs. Jennifer Tartaglia (RCS Spanish teacher and RCS parent)
Mrs. Andrea Fulcomer (Physician assistant and RCS parent)
